Technical Description Using this benchtop unit, the resolution of forces and analysis of the distribution of forces in simple frameworks can be demonstrated. The unit comprises three members that are joined together using discs such that the joints are free to move. One of the members is available in three different lengths so that the angle between the members can be adjusted. The members engage in the discs using snap action connections. Two of the discs also form the bearings and are clamped to the strong base frame made of aluminium section. One of the discs is designed as a self-aligning support. A weight carrier is hung on the framework to provide a defined load. The forces are measured using mechanical displacement gauges connected to leaf springs, these are fitted in the middle of the members.
