Test Corner - Large - For Electrical Lab Training The temperature rise on the surface of an electrical appliance incorporating heating elements and at places in its vicinity is checked by keeping the appliance in a suitable location inside a test corner. The appliance is kept switched on till a steady state is attained, after which the temperatures at its external surface and selected points in its vicinity are checked and the temperature rise compared against the specified maximum permissible values. The  Test Corner consists of an enclosure made from 19 mm thick commercial ply-board having a top, a bottom, and two sides joined together at right angles to form one corner of a room. A number of equally spaced copper discs are fitted on the roof, floor, and on each of the two walls of the test corner. A thermocouple junction is soldered on to the back of each disc. The discs are fixed flush with inner face of the ply-board.
